Amplifying Opportunity in Broome County

Welcome to a new era of entrepreneurship for entrepreneurs in Broome County. Amplify Equity, in partnership with the Binghamton Small Business Development Center (SBDC), is proud to announce the launch of a new, innovative pilot program: Amplifying Opportunity in Broome County. Generously supported by the United Way of Broome County and the Ujeni Foundation, this initiative is designed to empower low-income, economically disadvantaged, and rural entrepreneurs in Broome County by providing critical support, education, and access to flexible funding that will unlock new pathways for wealth-building and business success.

What We Offer

$500 Monthly Flexible Stipends for 10 Months

We’re doing things differently. Our monthly stipends are designed to give you the power to make strategic decisions. Whether it’s purchasing inventory, marketing your services, or building your business savings, the choice is yours.

Mentorship & Business Coaching

Get 1:1 mentoring tailored to your business needs. From creating growth strategies to troubleshooting challenges, we’ll work with you to strengthen your skills and achieve your goals.

Monthly Workshops

Participate in interactive workshops that focus on the critical topics you need to succeed:

  • Financial management

  • Business strategy

  • Personal well-being

  • Legal and compliance essentials

You’re not in this alone. Join a cohort of 10 inspiring entrepreneurs who understand your challenges and will cheer you on. Together, you’ll celebrate wins, share resources, and grow stronger as a community.

Are You Eligible?

You may qualify for this program if:

  • You are a low-income, rural, or economically disadvantaged entrepreneur

  • You operate your business in Broome County.

  • You are 18 or older

  • If you’re passionate about growing your business, building wealth, and making an impact, we encourage you to apply!

Please note: We are committed to supporting all applicants—whether selected for the cohort or not—and offer additional services and resources to help you move forward on your entrepreneurial journey.

How to Apply

Before you apply, you will:

  • Attend an informational session

    • Endicott: George F. Johnson Memorial Library | August 4 | 5-7pm

    • Binghamton: Broome County Library | August 5 | 5-7pm

    • Virtual via Zoom | August 12 | 5-7pm

  • Meet twice with AE staff for readiness interviews

  • Meet with SBDC advisors to prep application materials

Your application must include:

  • A sustainable business plan

  • Two years of financial projections (developed with SBDC or independently)

  • Two years of tax returns and a current profit-and-loss report
